THE DRIVE TO ELECTRIC
How Innovate Minds are Shaping our Future

If you are a student, scientist, engineer, investor or just someone curious about the exciting activities around the world in the field of ELECTRIC VEHICLES and batteries for transportation and energy storage, this book is for you.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Batteries, electric vehicles, renewable energy – How do we get it right?

We are in a transformation from gas-powered cars and coal burning energy production to alternative technologies, such as electric vehicles and batteries, that are cleaner and greener when used correctly. There are many uncertainties and questions that need to be answered to make this transition successful. Do we have enough lithium? Can batteries be recycled? Where does all the energy come from to charge all these electric vehicles? How can we make better batteries?

In The Drive to Electric, author Veronika Wright embarks on a quest to capture the collected wisdom of experts in the field of electrification. From a university professor to a startup founder to an industry leader and more, Dr. Wright talks with thought leaders across academia and business, determined to help her readers separate fact from fiction as we rapidly move forward toward this greener future.

In a fast-paced, fact-filled book, Dr. Wright lets us “listen in over her shoulder” as she exposes us to the latest thinking from experts across the globe, including those in North America, Canada, Russia, Europe, and Asia. Their insights, personal stories and vision come to life in The Drive to Electric, shedding new light on this important subject that is critical to all of our futures

The overall picture of the transition to electrification explained by insiders The Drive to Electric - gives you the feeling you're having a cozy dinner with experts/leaders in the field of electrification. Veronika finds the perfect balance between theory and story telling. She connects the energy transition with personal stories and inspiring voices. The book is set up that every chapter covers one part of the battery biography. It gives theoretical background (without getting complicated), challenges and how these challenges are tackled in praxis. When finished reading I knew the phases of a battery life and at the same time was very inspired by the amazing featured voices.

A journey in the battery biography Every chapter is related to a professional within the battery world, his career, his opinions, his drive. It's a journey in the whole battery biography, from mining/manufacturing to 1st & 2nd life in-use, to recycling. It's very easy to read, absolutely not too technical to reach even people that are not expert on the topic. You can perceive the passion driving these people reading their words. Inspiring! Thank you Veronika.

Great storytelling into a complicated and rapidly changing subject Electrification of transportation is so much more than just swapping a motor in for an engine- it will result in improvements in so many areas. The author takes a look at the challenges and changes coming from just batteries by talking with several passionate people who are part of those changes. The author uses a great storytelling style (even more impressive when you learn it is not her native language!) to make it flow smoothly and get the points across. Technical details are explained in just enough details to help even the non-technical reader understand why the topics are so interesting. Looking forward to more like this in the future from the author.
