We discussed trends and limitations for EV and battery technology with Mark Ng from Texas Instruments on our electric road trip through Nevada. And we had a blast. ๐Ÿคฉ

The average electric range of EVs has tripled over the past decade, DC fast charging with up to 350kW is a rising standard, 800V battery systems have made their way into the game.

How long do ELECTRIC vehicle BATTERIES last? EV Battery Lifecycle with TWAICE

What is the lifetime of a battery in an EV? The battery warranty of most electric vehicles today is around 8 to 10 years and 100 to 150k miles โ€“ but we have to face it, electric vehicle batteries do loose capacity over time which will reduce the mileage of your car.

But the interesting thing is โ€“ this โ€œagingโ€ and the final lifetime of your battery depends on HOW YOU USE your electric car. How much charging, discharging at which temperatures and so on.

This raises the question, is it possible to predict the lifetime or remaining life of a battery in an electric car and can we do something to maximize the life?
